自己紹介

It’s nice to meet you. My name is Chris Piper. I am 34 years old. I am from England. I was born in Reading, near London, but have also lived in Wiltshire, Cornwall, Devon and Sussex. Now I live next to a kiwi fruit farm in Higashi-Murayama, Tokyo with my wife and daughter. My daughter is now five years old and speaks Japanese very well. I have been teaching English for over ten years and teaching at universities in Tokyo for four years. In this time I have taught English through News Media, Academic Writing, Debate, British Studies and Conversation. I graduated from Exeter University with an Honors Degree in Literature with Media Studies in 1995. In 2002 I gained my Masters degree in Literature from Sussex University. In my free time I read widely and play the guitar. I also enjoy gardening. My favorite sport is football (soccer), so I play soccer every weekend in the Tokyo Metropolis League.

科目紹介

I am currently teaching 1st Year Speak & Write classes and 2nd and 3rd Year English Workshops. Speak and Write classes are creative and fun. Some days we use a textbook, but other days we discuss interesting topics or give group presentations. We also work a lot on pronunciation. This class also has ‘Writing Weeks’. During these classes we do intensive writing training, which quickly improves your writing technique. My workshop classes are topic-based courses. Each week we take a new topic and explore it in detail. First we learn new vocabulary items and discuss our opinions. In the next class we practice listening, presenting our ideas or even debating. Students enjoy these classes because they are a challenge and are always about interesting topics. I hope to see you in these classes some day soon.
