1900 Established in Tokyo as the Taiwan Association School.

1907

Renamed the Oriental Association Vocational School.
1918 Renamed Takushoku University.
1922 Licensed as a university by the Universities Act.
1949

Following educational system reform, inaugurated as a new system university.
Established the Faculties of Commerce (Management Studies and Trade Studies) and Politics and Economics (Political Science and Economics Studies).

1950 Established an associated high school and junior college (with Management and Trade Courses).
1951 Established graduate school master’s courses (with Economics and Commerce Courses).
1966

Established the Hokkaido Takushoku Junior College.

1969 Established an affiliated child-care academy at the Hokkaido Takushoku Junior College.
1970 Established graduate school doctoral courses (with Economics and Commerce Courses).
1972 Established the Intensive Japanese Language Program For Overseas Students.
1977 Established a new school building and relocated the Faculties of Commerce and Political Science and Economics in Hachioji City, Tokyo.
Established the Faculty of Foreign Languages (with English, Chinese and Spanish Courses) at the Hachioji Campus.

1978

Completed the International Exchange Hall at the Hachioji Campus.
1979 Established an affiliate school overseas (Canada).
1981 Established affiliate schools overseas (China, Taipei, Spain and Mexico).
1987 Established the Faculty of Engineering (with Departments of Mechanical System Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering and Industrial Design).
1990 Renamed the Hokkaido Takushoku Junior College to Takushoku University Hokkaido Junior College.
1991

Established graduate school master’s courses (An Engineering Course with Majors in Mechanical System Engineering and Electronic Information).

1992 Established an affiliate school overseas (Australia).
1993 Established graduate school doctoral courses (An Engineering Course with Majors in Mechanical System Engineering and Electronic Information).
Established a graduate school master’s course (An Engineering Course with a Major in Industrial Design).
1994 Established an affiliate school overseas (UK).
1997 Established a graduate school doctoral course (An Engineering Course with a Major in Industrial Design).
Established a graduate school master’s course (A Language Education Course with Majors in English and Japanese Language Education).
1998

Completed the Student Exchange Hall at the Hachioji Campus.

1999

Established a graduate school doctoral course (A Language Education Course with a Major in Language Education).
Opened the Research Institute of International Development.
Opened the Takushoku University Advanced Engineering Research Center.

2000 Established the Faculty of International Development (with Development Cooperation and Asia-Pacific Courses).
Established the Takushoku University Hokkaido Junior College Environmental Agriculture Course. Reorganized the Department of Agriculture Economics to establish the Department of Management Economics.
Held ceremonies and celebrations for the school’s 100th anniversary .
2002

Renamed the Faculty of Commerce’s Department of Trade to the Department of International Business.

Renamed the Faculty of Engineering’s Department of Electronic Engineering to the Department of Information Electronics.

2003

Renamed the Faculty of Politics and Economics’ Department of Political Science to the Department of Law and Politics.

Established the Takushoku University Japanese Language School.

2004

Established a graduate school master’s course (An International Cooperation Course with Majors in International Development and Safety Assurance).

Changed the location of the graduate school language education course to the Bunkyo campus.

2005

Added the Faculty of International Development wing at the Hachioji Campus.

Completed the second gymnasium and Physical Education Dormitory at the Hachioji Campus.

2006 Established a graduate school international cooperation doctoral course (with Majors in International Development and Security).
2007

Established the Department of Accounting in the Faculty of Commerce.
Changed the name of the Faculty of International Development to the    Faculty of International Studies.
Changed the name of the Faculty of Engineering’s Department of   Electronics to the Department of Electronic Systems.
Opened the Research Institute of Japanese Language.

Opened the Shariah Research Institute.

2008 Closed the Takushoku University Japanese Language School.
2009

Established a regional political administration graduate course.
