Courses
The Intensive Japanese Language Program For Overseas Students (IJLP) is a preparatory institution to help foreign students advance to Japanese universities.
Coursework includes required and elective courses.
 
Required courses Japanese language

To develop the skills required to advance to university 

Japan and its History and Culture For a deeper knowledge of Japanese culture and society and a productive international student life
English To develop the abilities and skills to advance to university
Elective courses

For liberal arts students: Liberal arts mathematics, geography and history, modern society


For science students: Biology, science mathematics, physics, chemistry

 
*All IJLP classes are 90 minutes like at the university, providing an opportunity to experience university life.

* IJLP Classes have 15 students or less and placement is determined by Japanese language ability.

*Tutorials are offered in preparation for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students.
 
Others activities: Various activities are offered to introduce Japanese culture, including spring and fall school trips, viewings of traditional Japanese entertainment and the Tanabata Festival.
 
Being away from home and living in another country can be stressful and some students get homesick.

IJLP classes have homeroom teachers who are available for consultations on life in Japan, as well as current and future coursework.
Special student counselors are also available.

The Intensive Japanese Language Program For Overseas Students has the following requirements:

1. Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 3 or higher
(Copy of certificate required)

2. Three hundred (300) hours or more of Japanese language study
(Certificate from learning institution required)

There is a recommendation system for international students who meet the criteria for undergraduate study at university.
Furthermore, admission tests for Third Year are available, depending on recognition of credits acquired in one’s home country and academic background.
 
Students must acquire documents from the university they hope to enter and consider whether they meet the requirements.
 
Takushoku University, Yokohama National University, Meiji University, Rikkyo University, Chuo University, Chuo Graduate School, Meiji Graduate School, Tsukuba University Graduate School, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Musashino Art University, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Tokyo University of Technology and other schools
 
Tokyo Multimedia College, Tokyo Denki University, Fuji International Language Institute, Tokyo Information Business College, Sundai College of Foreign Languages, Tokyo Foreign Language College and other schools

Scholarships are available for the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (intramural), as well as study grants (Japan Student Services Organization) and private scholarships (extramural).
Our university offers the Takushoku University International Student Dormitory at the Hachioji campus and Takushoku University International Student Exchange Hall at the Bunkyo campus as dormitories for international students.
IJLP students can live in the International Student Exchange Hall (for one year). However, both the Dormitory and Exchange Hall have a selection process so space in a dormitory is not guaranteed.
