Students enrolled in the first-term doctoral course of Takushoku University Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies are requested to submit master's thesis before completion of its two-year formal program to earn a master's degree. In the course, students are required to make an interim presentation of their thesis in the second year of the program.

In the interim presentation, students are requested to discuss objectives of their research, their possible contributions to scholarship, previous studies in the similar field and differences from them, as well as preview of results of their analyses. Subsequently, students are requested to revise their drafts by incorporating comments and advice as well as questions raised during the presentation by mid-December.

This year altogether 25 students (17 from the International Development Studies course and 8 from the International Security Studies course) made interim presentations on Saturday, July 8, in Building C of the university's Bunkyo campus. Highly lively exchanges took place between presenters and attending instructors as well as other participants, providing presenters with an opportunity to learn a lot from the exchanges, which would be utilized in further pursuant of their studies.
