Takushoku University holds an annual "National Essay Contest for High School and International Students" in the spirit of GOTO Shinpei (the third president) and NITOBE Inazo (the second academic advisor), who both wished for international understanding and world peace.

The theme of the 25th contest was "Creating a town where people can continue to live". A total of 2,071 essays were submitted from high school students and international students from all over Japan, of which 332 were from international students, the largest number of entries in recent years. In the Bekka program, students at the intermediate to advanced level of Japanese language aiming for JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) N2 or higher apply every year as part of their coursework. In the 2023 academic year, two entries in the international student category, "Considering Community Development from Maslow's Model" by Mr. TIAN KEYU (from China) and "A Town Where Everyone is Understood" by Mr. PHILAVASTVANID USUALWON (from Thailand), were awarded the "Encouragement Prize". Congratulations! The process of writing the essays itself seems to be a very good opportunity to learn Japanese.
