On Thursday, May 28, students in Bekka Intensive Japanese Language Program traveled from Myogadani Station on the Marunouchi Line, near the Bunkyo Campus in Tokyo, Japan, by two buses to visit the Yamanashi Prefectural Maglev Exhibition Center. This prefectural museum-style visitor facility was opened to coincide with the start of test runs on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line. There, students were able to watch experimental runs of the maglev train as it sped past at an incredible speed of approximately 500 kilometers per hour. Afterwards, the Bekka students visited Fuji-Q Highland, located at the foot of Mount Fuji, where they experienced aspects of Japanese culture. The excursion provided an opportunity not only for international students to deepen their friendships with one another, but also to strengthen their connections with Bekka SA [student assistants] and faculty members from the program.
